Pastor Tunde Bakare, the General Overseer of the Citadel Global Church, has said just as Joe Biden emerged as the United States President-Elect, he would also become president of Nigeria.

Bakare who was President Buhari’s running mate during the 2011 presidential election, said this during a chat with newsmen on Tuesday, November 10.

According to the clergyman, his presidential ambition is not a do-or-die affair but as the Lord lives, he will emerge, President, just as Joe Biden has done.

“There is something called destiny. I am not one to hide under the umbrella of one finger and make ambition look like vision, I do not camouflage. It is not a matter of life and death, but you can write it down. As the Lord lives, and as I am given the opportunity, the day will come, like Joe Biden, that I will be the President of Nigeria.” Bakare said

Wentworth Miller, popular for his role as Michael Scofield in the series Prison Break  has stated that since he’s gay he doesn’t want to be cast for any straight role in movies anymore.

Wentworth Miller: I’m gay, I don’t want straight characters – Prison Break star

The actor dashed all hopes of that in a post this past weekend on his verified Instagram account, saying he was out “Of PB. Officially.”

“Not (because) of static on social media (although that has centered the issue),” the caption read. “I just don’t want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told).”

“Prison Break” aired on Fox from 2005 to 2009 and briefly returned to the network in 2017 for a fifth season.

Since then, fans have been clamoring for a sixth season, but Miller, who came out as a gay man in 2013, says he won’t be involved should that happen.

“No more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons… I understand this is disappointing,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’m sorry. If you’re hot and bothered bec you fell in love with a fictional straight man played by a real gay one…That’s your work.”

#EndSARS frontliners whose accounts were frozen should explain what they used the money for – Governor Akeredolu

Governor Akeredolu

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has defended the freezing of bank accounts of some #EndSARS frontliners by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television, the Ondo State Governor noted that it is not the first time bank accounts have been frozen in the country. He further advised the affected individuals to approach a competent court to justify the “legitimate” source and use of funds in the frozen accounts.

Akeredolu also disclosed that the frozen accounts issue generated arguments during a meeting between governors, traditional rulers and other stakeholders in the South-West region last week.

The Governor who stated that it was “so clear that some people were getting to fund this for reasons other than #EndSARS”, also told the youth representatives of the Lagos judicial panel which is currently probing cases of police brutality and the Lekki shootings to resume sitting while they challenge the CBN action in court.

He said;

“The issue of the accounts that were frozen was discussed but nobody said in the communique that we appreciated the government for freezing the accounts.

“We know that there are ways to get a few things done without putting it in the public glare and start contestation on the pages of newspapers. So, we know what we decided and we know what we want to do about that.

“The issue, when it was raised, generated debate. But it was so clear that some people were getting to fund this for reasons other than #EndSARS. So, if we know money moved from some accounts that were suspicious, do you say the government should keep quiet? It is something we are looking into.

“If I were counsel to those people, I will not advise them not to appear at that panel.

“Accounts are frozen, is that the first time it is done? If your account was frozen, you justify why the money was there. You explain what use you have used the money. If it is, okay, we paid this caterer to give food to these boys when they were there.”

The Federal Government on Wednesday dissolved the Council of the University of Lagos based on the recommendations of the Visitation Panel set up to investigate the crisis in the university in August.

A statement by Ben-Bem Goong, Director Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education (FME), noted that the Panel found that Ogundipe was wrongly removed by Council and replaced with Prof. Soyombo without following due process.

The Panel also called on the government to institute a regular Visitation Panel to investigate the Council’s allegations against Ogundipe and others.

The statement reads: President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Visitor to the University of Lagos has approved the Report of the Special Visitation Panel to the University of Lagos.

The highlights of the findings and recommendations approved by Mr. President are as follows:

“I) The removal of Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe as the Vice Chancellor did not follow due process.

“ii) The Vice Chancellor was not granted an opportunity to defend himself on the allegations upon which his removal was based. He should accordingly be re-instated.

“iii) All allegations made against the Vice Chancellor and the management of the University before and after the Constitution of the Special Visitation Panel should be referred to regular Visitation Panel for thorough investigation and necessary recommendations.

“iv) The process adopted by the Council in the appointment of Professor Omololu Soyombo as Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University was inconsistent with the provisions of the Law relating to the appointment of an Acting Vice-Chancellor.

“v) The Governing Council should be dissolved.

“Mr. President after careful review of the report has approved all the recommendations of the Panel.

Accordingly:

“i) Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe is hereby reinstated as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos.

“ii) The Governing Council of the University of Lagos Chaired by Dr. B. O. Babalakin is hereby dissolved. Mr. President hopes these steps will bring peace, stability, focus and direction to the University.”
