922,463 for yellow fever vaccination in Enugu

About 922,463 persons will be vaccinated against yellow fever three council areas of Enugu State where there is a confirmed yellow fever outbreak, it was learnt on Thursday.


Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ENS-PHCDA) George Ugwu said the councils are Igboeze North (333,551); Nsukka (398,094) and Isi-Uzo (190,818).


According to him, the government has procured enough vaccines as well as trained and mobilised vaccinators to fixed Primary Health Centres (PHCs), special outreach centres and house-to-house approach. He added that the massive vaccination was meant for people between nine months and 44 years.

Ugwu said the vaccination would be extended to 10 neighbouring councils before the entire state is covered.

“There is no need to panic or send the wrong information; the government is in control of the outbreak clinically and has taken the right and appropriate steps to see that our people are protected…”

H.E.R. 23, received two awards – Best R&B/soul female artist and the Ashford & Simpson songwriter’s award for “I Can’t Breathe.” The “I Can’t Breathe.”

H.E.R. was this year’s top nominee at the Soul Train Awards, with eight nominations followed by Chris Brown with seven.

Highest nominee of the year at the Soul Train Awards was H.E.R with 8 nominations while Chris Brown had seven nominations.

The Album of the year was won by Summer Walker’s debut album, ”Over It”,

Kidnapper arrested after boarding a vehicle owned by one of his victims

A suspected kidnapper has been arrested after he mistakenly boarding a commercial vehicle owned by one of his victims in Sokoto state.

According to a report by Daily Trust, the driver who was kidnapped along Kankara in Katsina state while returning from Kano about two months ago, spent three weeks in captivity and was released after paying an undisclosed amount of money as ransom.

The suspect was recognised by the victim when he boarded his vehicle on his way to Kano state.

A National Union of Road Transport Worker (NURTW) member said;

“The driver was quick to identify him because the incident happened not too long ago.

“After identifying him, he alerted our leaders who in turned informed the nearest police outpost.”

It was learnt that the driver was asked to move towards Kwannawa motor park in Dange-Shuni local government area of the state, where the car was blocked by police. The suspect who was whisked away by the police to their station, reportedly confessed to being a member of a gang of kidnappers.

He has now been transferred to the state police command headquarters for investigation.

Zabarmari Massacre: Rice Farmers Beheaded By Boko Haram In Borno(Graphic Photos)

More than 43 farmers from Zabarmari, a farming community in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State were slaughtered by Boko Haram terrorists.

The incident happened on Saturday, November 28, at Koshebe village, in Mafa Local Government Area while the victims were working in a rice field.

One Mohammed Chiroma from Borno State, shared photos of the victims being recovered from the massacre scene. The photos shows that most of the farmers were beheaded.

The victims were buried on Sunday morning, November 29.
