Ogba is currently trending on the microblogging platform and the most talked about following three okada riders who were reportedly shot dead by security operatives.
According to reports, the incident occurred around Mokuolu Street in Ogba around 6pm on Thursday, May 6.
The confrontation between commercial motorcyclists and the Task Force was sparked by security agents’ attempts to impose the Okada ban in the region.
The security officers encountered opposition, resulting in a clash in which three okada riders were allegedly killed.
Sadly, one of the Okada riders died this morning, leading other riders to stage a protest, but they were quickly dispersed by security forces.
Reacting to this, social media users have taken to their various handles to raise alarm on the situation at Ogba. They alerted people to either stay away from the place or be extra careful as the area is not safe.
@Director_bello wrote; “Please if you’re at Ogba/Ikeja rn please stay indoors, me and seun were almost caught in a gunfight there right now, had to reroute please stay in and stay safe”
@Mistakobz wrote; “They are shooting at Ogba at the moment. please stay safe guys.”
According to the Daily Trust, the state police command had deployed a detachment of mobile police officers and plain clothed officers to maintain law and order.
The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have mounted blocks with their vans on roads leading to Excellence Roundabout, Ogba Market and WAEC.
