Akwa Ibom denies extra budgetary expenditure in 2019

Akwa Ibom has denied allegations that it fraudulently made extra budgetary expenditure running into multi billions of naira in its 2019 budget.

The government was reacting to an investigative report supported by John D and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and the International Centre for Investigative Reporting.

The report, published in a state-based newspaper and some online platforms, said the government incurred over N10 billion on aircraft maintenance, purchase of cars, special projects and governor’s hospitality, among others.

But the government said the findings were inauthentic.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy Iniobong Ememobong, at a news conference yesterday, said there were errors in the first budget.

He said: “The authentic version which was sent to the legislature and Auditor-General were imputed on the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) platform, and agrees with the details supplied.

“It is therefore startling to find an extensive ‘investigative’ publication based on a spurious report, which has a similar cover design with the authentic report.

“As a government, we take financial reporting seriously and have consistently complied with the IPSAS requirement, though generally acknowledged as cumbersome, due to its uncommon coding system.”

Deborah Vanessa and Medikal dated for 3 years before their separation in 2018 which was rumoured to have been as a result of cheating on the part of the rapper.

The singer and model confirmed these rumours stating that Medikal was seeing Fella behind her back while they were dating.

The extremely attractive Deborah and Medikal put to bed their differences as the award-winning rapper went on to marry actress Fella Makafui while Sister Derby also moved on with her life.

Medikal and Fella tied the knot on March 7, 2020, in a ceremony that was duly attended by celebrities and industry people and ended in controversy after controversy.

It was quite ironical that while Sister Derby and Medikal had mentioned severally that they were going to walk down the aisle together, the rapper who hails from Sotuom ended up marrying Fella.

Meanwhile, the supermodel has reminisced about moments she shared with Medikal by posting old music videos they both featured in on her Instagram story.

Among these videos was the visuals for their nationwide hit song Risky and Gimme Vibe which was one of Medikal’s earliest songs and featured Stonebwoy.
