Brigadier-General AI Taiwo, the Commander 81 of the Military Intelligence Brigade, has explained why the military initially denied its personnel involved in the October 20 shooting at the Lekki tollgate.
Recall that shortly after the incident on October 20, the Nigerian Army via its Twitter handle, denied the involvement of its officers.
Testifying before the Lagos state Judicial panel this afternoon, Taiwo said the military initially denied because it did not have its fact available.
”The first statement was born out of the fact that we did not have the facts available to us and the second was because nobody was sent to the Lekki tollgate to breakup any protest” he said
Sunday Dare, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, has revealed it will cost the ministry N81 million to cut the grass and clear the weed that have taken over the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
Dare while while speaking during the one-day seminar organised by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) FCT chapter, made the disclosure.
He stated that the ministry approached the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) for inspection of the weed in the stadium and was told it will cost them N81 million to cut.
The stadium was built in 2003 with N53 billion on a 29 hectares (72 acres) of land. It is also divided into Package A which houses the Main Bowl and Package B which houses other facilities like basketball courts, NFF office, volleyball courts, tennis courts, squash courts.
“We approached AEPB to come see what can be done to clear the grass and weed in the stadium and they told us it will cost us N81m.
“If we tell Nigerians we used N81m which is not even available, there will be an outcry. The funds are not really there for us and that is why we are partnering with private investors to bring back the key components of our infrastructures,” he revealed.
Khafi Kareem posted a photo recently and some people took to the comment section wondering if the Ex-BBNaija housemate was already pregnant or not. They dropped comments like, “That Tummy”, “Baby Girl is that a baby bump” etc, of which Khafi wasn’t very much happy about.
In a long Instagram post, Khafi says it isn’t okay to pry into people’s business and advises we learn to mind our business. She owes nobody a flat tummy also adding that is absolutely wrong to pressure women with pregnancy, they aren’t baby-making machines.

The way I’m looking at the next person who drops a pregnancy comment on my post. Continue reading if you don’t want to get BLOCKED. (I’m not joking). • I’ve ignored them for the longest now but according to the womb watchers on social media I have been pregnant for over a YEAR. So let me get this off my heart. Some people have flat stomachs naturally and some people have big stomachs naturally. The latter is ME. And when I’m on my period it is even BIGGER. I don’t owe anyone a flat stomach but still I try to suck in my belly in every single picture and sometimes I do it better than others. The worst is that even when I’m proud of my ‘sucking in skills’ on a particular picture there is always SOMEONE who still comments something about pregnancy. This is a habit that HAS TO STOP. • First of all, women are more than baby making machines. A woman’s fertility or decision to start a family is for her to decide, not for you to comment on in every single picture… Must our stomachs always be the first thing you look at?? 🧐 • Secondly, I’m not just speaking up for myself but for women in general. You may mean well when making pregnancy remarks but it is not always a compliment. For women who have had miscarriages, have been trying unsuccessfully for a baby, or simply conscious about their weight it can be very distressing, triggering and also puts a lot of undue pressure on them. So unless someone has announced a pregnancy or told you then please be nice and DONT COMMENT OR CONGRATULATE them on one. • Trust me when the time is right I welcome pregnancy (twins please Lord!👶🏽👶🏽) and starting a family at God’s time. But until I’ve said I’m expecting please stop with the pregnancy comments. I’ll have no patience for them anymore and any one who writes such comments will get BLOCKED. • To those who mean well, thank you so much, I do love you all💛 But to the amebos please be amebos elsewhere 😁. It’s pressure enough being a woman, so let’s not add to it. Happy Sunday 🤗
