Arsenal news live: Arsenal agreed to sign Omar Rekik, Szoboszlai’s claim, Kolasinac, Partey & Elneny latest

Arsenal news and gossip is coming in thick and fast and Sportarena is on hand to bring you all the very latest from Emirates stadium.

Gunners agreed a deal to sign Hertha Berlin’s Omar Rekik in January

According to Football London, claimed Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Hertha Berlin starlet Omar Rekik in January.

The Gunners were close to securing the signature of the 18-year-old defender in the summer, but they ran out of time. That forced them to hold onto William Saliba as well, who was close to leaving on loan.

Mikel Arteta’s side are set to lose three centre-halves for nothing next summer. Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and David Luiz will all be free agents at the end of this season.

So, Mikel Arteta’s side are huge step about complete the signing of Rekik, who stilly only 18. The Tunisian defender has been represented Feyenoord, Manchester City and Marseille at youth level before signing for Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2017.

Arsenal open Dominik Szoboszlai transfer talks in bid to prioritise creativity

Arsenal have ‘opened talks’ with Red Bull Salzburg over a deal for Dominik Szoboszlai, it’s been claimed.

The Hungarian attacking midfielder has caught the eye of several clubs in Europe with a number of impressive performances for the Austrian outfit.

Premier League giant Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in snapping up the 20-year-old, whom they view to be a cheaper alternative to Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar.

And according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, the north Londoners have already made overtures to sign the attacking midfielder ahead of January transfer window.

It’s claimed Dominik Szoboszlai – who booked Hugary’s ticket to the Euro 2020 Finals with a late winner in their play-off with Israel last week – could leave the Red Bull for a meagre £22.3million.

Latest Updates on Sead Kolasinac

Arsenal left-back Sead Kolasinac will be forced to miss the tussle with Leeds after returning a positive Covid-19 test whilst on international duty with Bosnia.

It was confirmed on Wednesday morning that the defender had tested positive for the virus, meaning that he will be absent for the trip to Elland Road, as well as the tussle with Molde in the Europa League next week.

Mohamed Elneny

Egyptian midfield enforcer Mohamed Elneny will also miss the clash at Elland Road after testing positive for Covid-19 whilst on international duty with Egypt.

A statement released by the Egyptian FA on Monday evening said Gunners star was asymptomatic, but the midfielder would now need to self-isolate.

That means he could also miss the Europa League clash against Molde next week but could return for Arsenal’s home tussle with Wolverhampton Wanderers on November 29.

In-form Elneny, 28, has been enjoying arguably his best spell at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta this term, meaning his absence could be greatly missed by the Gunners boss.

Thomas Partey

With Mikel Arteta already a midfielder short for the clash with Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites, the Spaniard will be desperate to have summer signing Thomas Partey available for selection.

The 27-year-old, who was signed for £45million from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window, came off against Aston Villa with a thigh problem.

That resulted in the midfield enforcer being unable to meet up with the Ghana squad over the course of the international break, meaning he stayed at London Colney to try and get himself in the best possible shape for the clash with Leeds United.

However, it is not yet known whether the powerful central midfielder will be available for selection against the Whites, with Arsenal not having yet issued an update on his condition.

Mikel Arteta is scheduled to face the media later this week and will almost certainly provide an update on the summer recruit’s fitness.

Gabriel Martinelli

Martinelli, 19, sidelined since June 21 where he suffered a left knee injury during a training session

According to the club official website, Martinelli had a successful arthroscopic procedure undertaken to repair a lesion in the cartilage of the left knee.

The Brazilian forward was initially ruled out until the end of 2020 but he has been running outside, alongside daily strengthening and recovery programme at London Colney.

And according to latest reports, he expected to return to full training by December after starting been involved in group training sessions.

Sani Umar Dangaladima, a member of the House of Representatives representing the Kaura-Namoda Federal Constituency of Zamfara State, has appeared in court.

The lawmaker on Wednesday, appeared before the Federal High Court in Abuja having been summoned on Tuesday over the disappearance of Faisal Maina, who is said to have jumped bail.

The legislator had stood surety for Faisal, who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on money laundering charges.

Faisal is a son of a former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, who is also facing separate charges of money laundering involving about N2bn before the same court.

The judge, Justice Okon Abang, who is presiding over the two cases, had revoked the bail granted the father and the son, ordered their arrest, and directed that their trials would proceed in absentia.

On Monday, Justice Abang sent Maina’s surety, Senator Ali Ndume, to jail over his inability to produce the fleeing defendant.

On Tuesday, the judge ordered Faisal’s surety, Dangaladima, to appear in court on Wednesday to show cause why he should not be made to forfeit the N60m bail bond he signed for the defendant.

In honour of the summons, Dangaladima appeared before the court on Wednesday.

He appeared with his lawyer, Mr M.E Sheriff.

But Faisal who has been declared by the judge to be on the run was absent from Wednesday’s proceedings.

“3 Years Down, I Am Looking Foward To Forever” Banky W and Adesua Pen Down Romantic Note To Each Other On Third Wedding Anniversary

Banky W and his wife Adesua Etomi-Wellington are gushing over themselves with lengthy romantic notes as they celebrate their third wedding anniversary.

Sharing a video from their lovely wedding ceremony which talked about their love journey, he wrote;

He wrote:

3 years ago, Susu and I made the decision to love each other forever. But the only reason forever is even possible, is because we made the decision to make God our foundation. And while a foundation is the part of the house that people don’t see, it’s by far the most important.

Because you can fix cracks in the walls, refurbish the rooms and repaint the halls, but you can’t get the foundation wrong if you want any chance of the house standing at all. The structural integrity of a house requires a foundation that is built to last.

I recently heard a Pastor say that love can’t keep a marriage going… he said it takes God and commitment. I think maybe he had a bit of a misunderstanding of what love really means. Because… well, God IS love. And love is commitment. Without both, it certainly isn’t love and it definitely won’t work. People sometimes think Susu led me to God. But it’s not true. God led me to Susu. And He has kept us through it all.

Marrying @adesuaetomi is the 2nd best decision I made in my adult life. The best was re-dedicating my life to Christ.

Susu, I am thankful for you, and grateful to you. You are everything I want and much more than I deserve. You mean the world to me and I intend to spend the rest of my life proving it. I love you now more than ever.
3 years down, I’m looking forward to forever.

I love you. Happy Anniversary Shuga.

His beautiful wife, Adesua posted the same video and also wrote long note describing her husband as the light of her life second to Jesus.

She wrote:

Three years? Seems like yesterday. Seems like forever.
Three years with my bestie.
Everyone knows you’re my husband but today I want to thank you for being my best friend.
The most attentive, loving, funny, caring, inspiring friend I have ever had.
I thought I knew how to love but omo, you have schooled me.
I never knew it was possible to be with someone this long and not have it be riddled with tons of fights. I’m glad for our low voiced intense conversations. Lol
You don’t make me feel crazy, I don’t have to yell before I’m heard. I don’t have to worry. I don’t second guess how you feel about me. I know I’m valued, as I should be.
Thank you bubz, for just being a correct human being. For the heart that you have. For being quick to be sorry when you’re wrong (whispers…even when you’re not. Lol) (I do the same sha)
For not putting your ego before us. For giving me a home that’s my safe haven. I’m grateful for the home we have built. I always look forward to coming home and it takes a lot to even get me out of the house. Lol.
God has done the most marvellous things these past 3 years. May he continue to be the 3rd cord in this threefold cord. As long as he lives and he shields and we keep him part of our lives, we will never be easily broken.
Apart from Jesus, you are def the light of my life.
May that light continue to shine brighter and brighter.
You, my darling are a force to be reckoned with and the world will remember your name.
@bankywellington I love you doesn’t seem to suffice anymore but I’ll say it anyway. I love you with every fibre of my being. Let’s do this till we’re old and grey and maybe in heaven too?

Buhari’s stand on accountability, transparency encouraging – CCB boss

Simon Utebor, Yenagoa

The Chairman, Code of Conduct Bureau, Prof. Isah Mohammed, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s policy thrust on probity, accountability and transparency as a way of doing government business is very encouraging.

Mohammed made this known on Wednesday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, during a two-day workshop on ‘Strict Compliance with Assets Declaration and Code of Conduct for Public Officials’, organised by Go-Getters Consulting Limited.

Represented by a representative of South-south Zone in the CCB, Dr Emmanuel Attah, the CCB boss said their mandate had become pragmatic and momentous following the political will of the leadership of President Buhari to make the fight against corruption as one of the cardinal agenda of his administration.

He stated: “The President’s policy thrust on probity, accountability and transparency as a way of doing government business is not only encouraging but gives the necessary impetus and enthusiasm to each and every one of us to position ourselves, as appropriate in this campaign.

“This, we may only achieve as public officers by conforming to the principles of public office which include selflessness in favour of public interest, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership by example.”

Mohammed believed that if top public functionaries of government were well aware and abide by the codes of conduct, the need for the application of punitive measures would be eliminated and thereby reduce the resources expended on the prosecution of cases.

He said the CCB had the onerous mandate to establish and maintain a high standard of morality in the conduct of government business and to ensure that the actions and behaviour of public officers conform to the highest standards of public morality and accountability.

In his opening remarks, the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, urged the CCB to avoid the temptations of being used as an instrument for political witch-hunt of Nigerians.

He said: “As Nigerians, we are all aware of the development not too long ago where someone in the Southsouth, in the person of a former Chief Justice of the Federation was bought down from his lofty heights on account of a supposed non-compliance with the provisions of the Code of Conduct. It was learnt from some quarters that the former CJN was not given fair treatment by the Code of Conduct Tribunal in that matter.

“So, we must at all times, eschew, avoid and live above board by not giving in to temptations and allow politicians use the instrumentality of offices created for the good of Nigerians to witch-hunt fellow Nigerians.”

Speaking about the training, the deputy governor, represented by the Deputy Chief Staff in his office, Mr. Alex Dumbo, said the training of the participants from the Local Government Service Commission was appropriate and apt.

He noted: “This event, as it were, in my mind is quite appropriate and very apt. Appropriate and apt because an informed mind is a weapon against mistakes. As you all know, the Code of Conduct, as established in our Constitution under the fifth schedule part one expects every public servant to enact certain behavioural conduct which should at all points, holds your personal interest below the interest of the public service.

“Under the Code of Conduct, we are expected to pay the emoluments and salaries only on a single source in the public service. We all know that a couple of times, we find that some persons, either because we are ignorant, earn emoluments from more than one source in the public service. In doing so, we are latently causing crimes to ourselves.”
