Fikayo Tomori set for Rennes loan move
Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori is on way to join Ligue 1 side Rennes on a six-month loan, according to talkSPORT.
The England international has hardly feature this season with the arrival of Thiago Silva, and improved form of Kurt Zouma at the hearts of the Chelsea defence.
However, manager Frank Lampard is keen for the 22-year-old to gain regular playing time and according to talkSPORT journalist, Crook says that Tomori will find such playing time at Rennes.
‘It’s almost certain that he will leave Stamford Bridge on loan next season, he’s only featured in one Premier League or Champions League game this season,’he told talkSPORT.
‘There was interest from West Ham in the summer, but he walked away from a move to the London Stadium at the eleventh hour on Deadline Day.
‘Leeds have also expressed an interest, but I’m told Rennes is now the most likely destination for Tomori. They tried to sign him as part of Edouard Mendy’s move to Chelsea and talks have remained ongoing.’
Declan Rice wants Chelsea move
West Ham United central midfielder Declan Rice is reportedly keen on a January move to Chelsea after failing to secure a transfer across London in the summer.
The Blues deemed Declan Rice too expensive in the summer as they secured deals for other targets but have long been interested in the English international, who can play at centre-back or in central midfield and could be a long-term successor to N’Golo Kante.
But now transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says that the English man still wants to join Chelsea next month.
‘Declan Rice still wants to join Chelsea in January,’ said Romano. on the Here We Go Podcast via Simon Phillips. ‘But it is up to Chelsea to negotiate a fee with West Ham, which will be difficult in January.’
Chelsea confident of Olivier Giroud stay
The Telegraph reports that Chelsea are confident forward Olivier Giroud will remain with the club in January, despite previous reports stating that the Frenchman will look to leave the club amid concerns about his lack of playing time.
Following the arrival of German hitman Timo Werner in the summer, Giroud’s starting opportunities declined. And with next summer’s Euros on the horizon, he was keen to find more regular playing time to keep his place in the France team.
However, more recently, the Frenchman has earned more opportunities, starting the last three Premier League games and scoring twice in the process.
The Blues are now reportedly confident that they can convince Giroud that he will be given enough playing time to protect his place in Didier Deschamps’ thinking.
On the season, Giroud eight goals in 14 games in all competitions, including four in the 4-0 win over Sevilla in a crucial Uefa Champions League tie.
Alaba’s agent hoping to strike Chelsea deal in January
The agent of Bayern Munich veteran defender David Alaba is set to speak to Chelsea in January.
Pini Zahavi, Alaba’s agent, is looking for potential suitors with his client’s deal set to expire at the end of the season.
David Alaba has yet to agree a new contract at Bayern for beyond this summer, and it is unlikely that a new deal with be agreed.
And according to German Newspaper Bild, claim Zahavi is expecting to speak with Chelsea in January and is hoping to strike a deal.
