Edo election: What President Buhari assured me – Gov Obaseki

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has assured him of a peaceful election come September 19.

Obaseki, who is the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said this while calling on voters to come out en masse to cast their votes.

The Governor made this known when he addressed members of the PDP during a campaign rally in Ovia South West Local Government Area of the State.

He called on the party faithful to come out without fear of harassment or intimidation by the opposition.

Obaseki said, “President Buhari has assured me that the Edo election will be peaceful.”

He insisted that there will be peace in the State before, during and after the election.

“They are not more than us in number; vote and make sure your vote counts. Stay back in your polling units to ensure they count your vote in your presence,” he added.

Kanye West has disclosed intentions to buy Universal Music Group company after he expressed his worry about the music industry.

In an interview with Joe Rogan Experience podcast, West stated that the initial plan was to acquire his masters but he is looking at the bigger picture and that is to buy Universal.

‘I’m going to buy Universal. I was thinking about buying my masters [but] I realized that was too small of a thought. I’m going to buy Universal.’

‘Universal is] only a $33bn organization. I’m one of the greatest product producers that ever existed. And I’m a child; I’m 43 years old. I was $53m in debt four years ago. Now it’s proven that I’m the new Michael Jordan of products’.

In September he revealed his intent to give all good music artists a 50% share of their masters.

FG declares Thursday, October 29 public holiday

The federal government has declared Thursday, October 29, as public holiday to mark this year’s Eidul-Mawlid celebration in commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

Minister of interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration on behalf of the federal government and congratulated the Muslim faithful both at home and abroad for witnessing this year’s occasion.

He enjoined them to imbibe the spirit of love, patience and perseverance which are the virtues of Prophet Muhammad, adding that doing so would guarantee peace and security in the country.

The minister also admonished Muslims to follow the teaching of the Holy Quran in Chapter 4 Verse 59.

Ogbeni Aregbesola enjoined Nigerians, particularly Muslims, at this moment, to abhor violence, lawlessness, wantonness and daylight robbery as witnessed across the country most recently.

While calling for a stop to all divisive tendencies across the country, he urged all Nigerians & the youth in particular, to embrace peace and cooperate with Buhari led-administration in its effort to build a virile nation, which all citizens can be proud of.

Ogbeni Aregbesola who described the youth as the hope and future of the nation advised them further to deepen democracy and not dampen it.

Wife cuts Husband’s manhood in Taraba for impregnating another lady

A middle-aged woman, on Sunday, reportedly cut off her husband’s manhood in Taraba State for allegedly impregnating another woman, the Guardian reports.

This is coming about four months after the police arrested a 32-year-old housewife, Halima Umar, who cut off her husband’s dick with a knife in the same state for marrying another wife.

It was gathered at the weekend that the man, simply identified as Babangida but popularly known as Bangis, who is in his early 30s, suffered severe injuries on his genitals after his wife attempted to cut off his dick.

The incident happened at Appawa community, a suburb of Lau Local Government area, about 12:15a.m. when Bangis was asleep. Bangis was immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment.

According to a source, who is also a neighbour to the victim, Bangis went to the market and after a hectic day, he was tired and slept off. He said Bangis was yet to have a child with his wife.

“In the morning, the wife cut the manhood because he impregnated another woman. He fought back and collected the knife from her, but she also injured herself in the process. Neighbours heard screaming and shouting in the house and they rushed to their apartment to meet the sad incident,” he said.

When asked why she made attempts to cut off her husband’s manhood, the woman replied: “The Bible says we should cut off anything that can make one to sin.”

As of press time yesterday, the spokesperson for the police command, DSP David Misal, was yet to confirm the incident.
