Man arrested for threatening to kill US health expert Dr. Fauci and his family

Man arrested for threatening to kill US health expert Dr. Fauci and his family

A Maryland man has been arrested on suspicion of sending repeated threats to harm Anthony Fauci, the United States’ top infectious disease expert.

According to a newly unsealed criminal complaint, Thomas Patrick Connally, Jr., 56 sent a series of profanity-laden emails to Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), and Francis Collins, the director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in which he also rants about billionaires Bill Gates and George Soros, per the complaint filed in U.S. District Court following his arrest in West Virginia on Monday, July 26.

Some of the emails were sent via an encrypted email service based in Switzerland and contained death threats. He started sending the threat in 2020 and continued into this year, when the writer complained in April about “mandatory vaccines” . The last email was sent July 21.

The first threatening email Connally allegedly sent to Fauci in December 2020 contained the subject line “Hope you get a bullet in your compromised satanic skull.”

Connally is accused of writing in another: “You and your entire family will be dragged into the street, beaten to death, and set on fire.”

Fauci has advised two administrations (Trump and Biden) on the COVID-19 pandemic. He had to beef up his security last year as he has been targeted by conspiracy theorists due to his role in advising the White House on the pandemic.

Connally is due to have an initial appearance in US District Court on Wednesday July 28.

If you’re anything like most people, your medicine cabinet has slowly evolved from a collection of skin and hair care products into something resembling a witch’s potion cupboard, filled with trendy (and hard-to-pronounce) herbs, vitamins, roots, enzymes, and minerals, all offering the hope of improved wellness. Nutritional supplements like elderberry and echinacea have long been the rage in a multi-billion dollar industry that touts immunity-boosting, metabolism-enhancing, and anxiety-reducing health benefits, but every year, a different ingredient, promising something amazing, takes the spotlight. And 2021 is, unsurprisingly, no different.

Enter ashwagandha: the latest “it” product to burst onto the scene, popular especially among men thanks to its bold claims to not only combat anxiety, but also increase testosterone levels and improve semen quality.

To break down the miracle that is the ashwagandha plant and its impact on nutrition and your overall well-being, we chatted with Jackie Topol, MS, RD, a registered dietitian who works with clients virtually across the country. Topol has integrated ashwagandha into some of her patients’ diets and all for good reason. Here’s why.

What Is Ashwagandha?

Roots and powder of Ashwagandha also known as Indian ginseng on wooden background, top viewGettyImages

Withania somnifera, marketed with the much-sexier name of “ashwagandha,” is an evergreen shrub that grows in India, the Middle East, and Africa. In the health world, it is classified as an “adaptogen,” meaning its primary purpose is to reduce stress levels and anxiety. Through studies, these “herbal medicines” have also proven to be “neuroprotective, anti-fatigue, and antidepressive,” making it a great all-natural supplement to support overall mental health.

Ashwagandha supplementation has been used as a form of alternative medicine for thousands of years. It is safe to consume, though anyone should “speak with a dietitian or doctor to discuss the right dosage” prior to incorporating it into your daily routine, advises Topol.

General Benefits of Ashwagandha

  • Reduce Stress and Anxiety

“People are turning towards more holistic remedies to manage stress and anxiety,” says Topol. “Studies suggest that ashwagandha may help reduce stress and may also reduce stress-related weight gain through decreasing cortisol levels.” This win-win has made it an ideal alternative to prescription antidepressants and benzodiazepines, which aim to either balance emotions or calm your brain. In fact, results are so promising that its sales make it the third most popular herbal supplement in the country, only after CBD and elderberry.

  • Potentially Decrease Tumors

When evaluated as a chemopreventive agent with anti-tumorigenic properties, ashwagandha shows somewhat promising signs; though this study is the first to divulge that more research is needed before making such swift assumptions, especially since most positive outcomes came from lab rats as test subjects.

If you’re looking to fine-tune your motor skills without crossword puzzles and eating salmon, some studies are proving that ashwagandha may provide a bump in cognitive performance. “For focus, concentration, and memory, ashwagandha has been shown in many studies to enhance all aspects of cognitive function,” reveals Robin DiPasquale, ND, in her Natural Medicine Journal study.

While many studies are still in exploratory stages, there’s hope that ashwagandha may be able to lower blood sugar levels. This was particularly relevant when the extract was derived from the ashwagandha root and not the leaf, due to its high flavonoid content. Flavonoids, found mostly in fruits and vegetables, are naturally-occurring phenolic compounds that help to lower blood sugar levels and reduce the chance of developing diabetes.

Ashwagandha Benefits for Men

  • Increase Testosterone and Sperm Quality

“Small studies have found that ashwagandha can increase testosterone levels and improve sperm count, volume, and motility,” says Topol. For men looking to start a family, this could have positive implications when it comes to fertility and conception. For men who are more concerned about the sex and less concerned about fatherhood, it may boost libido and assist in treating erectile dysfunction.

  • Increase Muscle Mass and Lower Body Fat

Looking for #gainz in the gym? You may actually be in luck. Ashwagandha has also shown to increase muscle mass, reduce body fat percentages, and even lower cholesterol, making it one of the go-to supplements for athletes, especially bodybuilders.

My Koti Only Works With My Girlfriend – Man Cries

A young man has taken to his Facebook account to cry out loud over his inability to work his manhood around other women except for his girlfriend.

According to this man, his manhood only works when he is with his girlfriend and anytime he goes next to another lady, it does not work at all.

manhood work only with Girlfriend
My Koti Only Works With My Girlfriend – Man Cries

In a lengthy post sighted by OccupyGh.com on Facebook, he wrote:

“I was a player and a heartbreaker until I meet my present girlfriend, whose initial plan was to use and dump, but it is no longer possible because I’ve been dating her for over one year now.

She is a good girl, respectful, nice, and everything a man wants in a girl but the daughter of a native doctor, which I was warned about.

Although she is a good partner, I still want to have other girls but I noticed that whenever I want to get down with other girls my manhood will refuse to work., not once, not twice, not thrice. The thing has made me not bother about going after other ladies because of the shame it ends up bringing me.

But surprisingly it always comes alive and I last longer whenever I’m having it with her. I discussed it with my friend and he told me it might have been spiritually ‘passworded’ by her. I need advice urgently.”

Major side effects of drinking beer on your health

Drinking higher amounts of beer on a regular basis can cause many side effects including flushing, confusion, trouble controlling emotions, blackouts, loss of coordination, seizures, drowsiness, trouble breathing, hypothermia, low blood sugar, vomiting, diarrhea, bleeding, irregular heartbeat, and others.

You will agree with me that from old-school favorites to current fads, some could argue that beer lovers have never celebrated the beverage quite as passionately as they are right now. If you’re one of them, be informed that researchers have identified a few key effects that beer may have on your longterm health.

Before we explore what this study uncovered, it might be prudent to note: We’re not promoting heavy drinking, or even alcoholic drinking at all. In this meta-analysis, which was recently published in the international, peer-reviewed journal Nutrients, a team of nutrition and food science researchers in Spain examined studies from 2007 to 2020 that had all considered the effects of mostly alcoholic beverages on health.

However, some of the studies they reviewed suggested that naturally occurring nutrients in the beer, and not the alcohol itself, were what delivered some of these health benefits. Since the choice of non-alcoholic beers has never been more abundant, parts of this study also mean good news for beer drinkers who abstain from alcoholic beer.

Also important is that the researchers who conducted this meta-analysis found that very moderate beer consumption was essential to experiencing the health benefits of beer. In fact, they suggest just one drink per day for women and two for men is the maximum.

Based on those measures, learn what they found about possible health benefits from beer—also don’t miss The 10 Best American Cities for Beer, According to New Data.

The researchers state that five of six studies they selected for review identified “a protective effect of moderate alcohol drinking on cardiovascular disease.” This was true for individuals who regularly drank up to 13.5 ounces of beer per week when compared to abstainers and occasional drinkers.

RELATED: Simple Diet Changes for Weight Loss

The researchers state: “Men abstainers had a significantly higher risk of developing abnormal glucose regulation … than occasional beer drinkers, suggesting occasional beer consumption may be protective [against diabetes] in men.”

When looking at bone density and risk of fracture among older individuals, the researchers in the current study state that “very low levels of consumption were associated with a decreased fracture risk.”

For this variable, they suggest “non-alcoholic components of beer may also be involved,” as they get scientific by explaining: “Other compounds present in beer (e.g., phytoestrogens such as 8-prenylnaringenin) act synergically with silicon to stimulate osteoblast cells, improve bone structure, and help remineralize bone and teeth.”

All this to say, you might not have guessed that a small amount of beer may actually contribute to your bone health for the long haul.

The researchers highlight several studies which suggested that beer helps promote good cholesterol and regulate the body’s processing of bad cholesterol, thanks in large part to the antioxidants in a good brew. It’s important to note that this was found when a very small amount of beer was consumed, between half an ounce and an ounce per day.

If you’re sipping a cold beer on a warm day, this new knowledge just might add to your enjoyment. To learn more, keep reading Efogator.com

No sane Nigerian will just go and commit crimes except he is high on something - Jonathan says issues of mental health need to be checked

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has revealed that mental health of most Nigerians needs to be checked following incidences of insecurity in the country.

Jonathan said this when visited by management of the Albino Foundation and its partners, who came to thank him for paying the bills of persons with albinism to undergo surgery for cancer abroad.

He added that most of the crimes carried out in the country are drug-induced. The former President said;

“Imagine starting your day with the news of killing in the morning, it leaves an impression on your mind. We need to also look into issues of mental health as well.

“No sane Nigerian will just go and commit crimes except he is high on something.

“Now we have cults in primary and secondary schools, then it was in tertiary institutions, but you now see children in these schools thinking of how to kill their mates, this is sad”.

According to the host and founder of the foundation, Mrs Adenrele Edwards, “sudden cardiac Arrest (SCA) is the abrupt loss of heart function, breathing and consciousness. The condition usually results from a problem with your heart’s electrical system, which disrupts your heart’s pumping action and stops blood flow to your body.

Sudden cardiac arrest isn’t the same as a heart attack, when blood flow to a part of the heart is blocked. However, a heart attack can sometimes trigger an electrical disturbance that leads to sudden cardiac arrest”.

She went on to add that, ‘having and using an automated external defibrillator (AED)with Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) within the first three minutes of a sudden cardiac arrest can increase an individual’s chances of survival by up to 75% . All it takes is a little preparation and training. Since Robert’s death, there have been countless other preventable deaths , just because people lack awareness and do not know what to do”.

Borno Commissioner for Health queries college provost for suspending students over Buhari’s welcome

Borno Commissioner for Health queries college provost for suspending students over Buhari?s welcome

Borno State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Juliana Bitrus, has issued a query to the provost, College of Nursing and Midwifery, Rukaiya Shettima Mustapha, for suspending some students under the claim, that they failed to join others, in welcoming President Buhari on June 17 in Maiduguri. Read previous report HERE

The commissioner, described the provost as being mischievous against Borno State Government, because she acted on her own, without recourse to any official at her supervising ministry and without any directives from anyone in the state government.

In the query with reference number MOH/PER/752 V.I and dated Friday, June 25, the commissioner demanded that the provost responds within 48 hours, to advance compelling reasons why a disciplinary action should not be meted against her.

The commissioner said while Borno has about eight state owned tertiary institutions, it was curious that only at the college of nursing and midwifery, that students were suspended, including with signed letters addressed to them, in apparent effort to embarrass the state government.

The commissioner said, even though it is a normal practice that students join in welcoming visiting Presidents all over Nigeria, such acts are voluntary. More so that students constitute far less than thousand of residents who freely trooped out to welcome the President in all parts of Maiduguri.

The commissioner explained that it was unbelievable to the ministry, when news came about the action taken by the provost, and hence, the ministry took time to investigate and confirm the act before issuing a query.

The commissioner was concerned that the provost may have simply used the president’s visit to get at some students she may have had issues with.

Juliana noted that, Heads of States and Presidents have been visiting Borno since 1976, and students do join in welcoming them, and no one ever expected 100% compliance in any public mobilization.

The commissioner further said, that if any issue involving students was to be raised, how come it was not the Borno State University, which the President Commissioned, or schools around projects commissioned by the President?

It will be a monumental error to treat coronavirus pandemic as over – WHO

The World Health Organization has come out to remind everyone that the world is not yet out of the Coronavirus pandemic yet, despite declining coronavirus infection levels and increasing vaccine rates.

The mood may be lightening up in the U.S. and elsewhere as people get their shots, and infections and deaths decline, but COVID-19 is still a very real and present danger, World Health Organization (WHO) director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said.

The world has seen 170.5 million documented cases of the novel coronavirus, with 3.5 million dead, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University. Nearly 2 billion vaccines have been administered.

Speaking at the 74th World Health Assembly on Monday night, May 31, Tedros called on the world’s nations to work together to end this pandemic and prepare for the next one, proposing a treaty on pandemic preparedness and response.

“The reality is, we still have a lot of work to do to end this pandemic,” Tedros said in his closing remarks.

“It’ll be a monumental error to treat it as over at this stage”

“We’re very encouraged that cases and deaths are continuing to decline globally, but it would be a monumental error for any country to think the danger has passed.”

He urged member states to aim to vaccinate at least 10% of the population of all countries by the end of September, and at least 30% by the end of the year.

“One day – hopefully soon – the pandemic will be behind us, but the psychological scars will remain for those who have lost loved ones, health workers who have been stretched beyond breaking point, and the millions of people of all ages confronted with months of loneliness and isolation,” Tedros said.

“We will still face the same vulnerabilities that allowed a small outbreak to become a global pandemic,” he pointed out.

“The questions the pandemic is asking us cannot simply be answered with new institutions, mechanisms, facilities or processes. The challenges we face are profound, and so must be the solutions we design.”

“The one recommendation I believe will do the most to strengthen WHO and global health security is the recommendation of a treaty on pandemic preparedness and response which could also strengthen relations between member states and foster cooperation,” Tedros said.

“This is an idea whose time has come.”

Bobrisky has a personality that’s toxic to my mental health

Bobrisky has a personality that

Popular Nigerian drag queen, James Brown, found fame after he was paraded as one of the 57 suspected homosexuals arrested at a birthday party in 2020, and ever since then, he’s been one of the hottest social media sensations around.

In this interesting episode of LITV show, NaijaTalk Podcast with Dami Dawson, James Brown spoke about becoming a drag queen, his time in prison, his riff with his senior colleague Bobrisky and many more.

The drag queen explained that he has always wanted to put on women’s clothes and make-up since he was young.

On his time in prison, where he spent three weeks, James described those times as “hell,” saying that he was beaten, molested, and was made to pack feces alongside other prisoners.

He also claimed that in prison, there are different grades, the VVIP, VIP, Medium Class, and Jakara, a crowded cell where he was kept.

After his release from prison, James Brown said he through series of therapy because of the traumatic experience in prison. He also disclosed that he tried to sue the Nigerian police after the case was dismissed, but later decided not to go ahead with the move after those who were arrested with him lost interest.

While discussing his riff with Bobrisky, he said the senior crossdresser didn’t influence his decision to go into cross-dressing and went on to credits his success to Denrele and Charly Boy.

When asked why he didn’t mention Bobrisky, James Brown said he doesn’t want to get involved with him, because he “has a personality that’s toxic to my mental health”

He later admitted that before he became a drag queen, he got some ”courage and idea” from Bobrisky on how to take risk

Sharing more details into what led to his fight with Bobrisky, he said there was one time, his senior colleague called him to threaten him in a very strong manner and that was the end of the road for them.

To get back at him, James called Bobrisky a ‘snitch’ and threaten to expose some secrets about him in the nearest future.

House of Reps set to legalize the use of Indian hemp for economic benefits – Spokesperson Benjamin Okezie Kalu

The spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, says the lower chamber of the National Assembly is set to legalize the use of Indian Hemp in Nigeria for economic benefit.

Kalu announced this at a press conference on the benefits and opportunities of Cannabis in Akure, Ondo state. According to Kalu, the House of Representatives has concluded an arrangement to organize a two-day stakeholders roundtable on the benefits of the weed that will be attended by scientists, medical and pharmaceutical professionals, farmers, insurance companies, executives, and private sector investors, He said the roundtable is scheduled to hold between June 7 and 8.

He explained that countries such as South Africa and others are currently reaping high revenue from cannabis which they export to other countries.

“Nigeria has been described as oil-dependent and not oil-rich. It is a worrying reality that we have not optimized the financial stability advantage that our oil reserves can provide us to diversify our collective investment and revenue sources.

The coronavirus pandemic exposed our weaknesses when global oil prices plummeted by as much as 15 per cent even falling below $0 a barrel on 20 April 2020.

Indeed, our economy is still recovering from that shock. However, as the world increasingly shifts towards renewable energy and climate-friendly energy sources, global oil demand will further drop.

Agriculture has always been a major strength of Nigeria and cannabis provides interesting prospects. Industrial hemp is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant species that is grown specifically for industrial use.

Once harvested, the crop has a high yield of edible proteins and fibres with more than 50,000 product applications ranging from papermaking, textiles, biodegradable plastics, fuel, construction, healthy food, beverages, personal care products, and pharmaceuticals.

According to verified market research, the Global Industrial Hemp Market was valued at USD 5 Billion in 2019 and is projected to reach USD 36 Billion by 2026, growing at a CAGR of 34 per cent from 2019 to 2026.

According to the consultancy firm Prohibition Partners, by 2023, the value of Africa’s legal cannabis market could be worth over USD 7.1 billion.

For this to happen, a candid discourse must be held by all stakeholders on the modalities for legalization, licensing, and regulation of the industry. I hope that the two-day stakeholder’s roundtable discussion on the benefits and opportunities of Cannabis Plant and CBD Oil in Nigeria, scheduled to hold on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 June 2021 will achieve this.

To enable this process of legalization, I have presented before the House of Representatives, the Dangerous Drugs Act (Amendment) Bill, 2020, which when passed, will usher in a new era of medicinal cannabis from production processing and distribution.

I expect that the exchanges that will ensue at the roundtable on June 7 and 8, 2021, will greatly optimize the deliberations of the National Assembly on the bill, as well as preparations by the executive arm of government to regulate the sector. Nigerians must understand that we are not alone in this race to establish a lucrative medical and industrial hemp economy.

Based on recommendations by the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations (UN) voted to remove Cannabis from schedule IV of the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, and reclassified it as medicinal and therapeutic, on December 2, 2020. Several countries have legalized medicinal and industrial hemp and other African countries are moving to do the same.”

Baba Ijesha was detained for allegedly sexually assaulting the daughter of one of the children of Yoruba actress Princess. Baba Ijesha was arrested on April, 22 after many people called for his arrest on social media. But speaking on Monday, a few hours after Baba Ijesha was released, Lawyer Ogunlana slammed the Lagos police and others who stood against Baba Ijesha’s bail.

He said, “How could somebody who is not biased, who is not malicious, how can that person, and I am talking about the Attorney-General of Lagos State, Moyosore Onigbanjo. He is a fine learned gentleman but for goodness sake, how could anybody say a prima facie case of defilement has been disclosed upon the fact of this case?

“We will look into that and take that up because this gentleman, Baba Ijesha, his rights have been brazenly brutalized.”

“As far as we are concerned, both the police and the ministry of justice are to be indicted for this unnecessary brutalization and oppression of Baba Ijesha’s right. If a person is entitled to a right, you give it to him; you don’t need to say whether it conforms with your idea of morality or not. When you know the right thing to do and you refuse to do it, that is a sin,” the lawyer added.
