I am grateful to have a lesbian daughter – Charly boy

Nigerian singer, Charles Oputa is popularly known as Charly Boy says he is grateful to have a child who identifies as a homosexual.


The veteran actor made this known in a long thread on his social media page where he recounted how he struggled to come to terms with his daughter sexuality. 


The controversial singer who went viral in 2011, after he kissed TV presenter, Denrele Edun, on the lips which sparked rumours that he was a bisexual.

He, however, stated it took him months to accept his lesbian in 2016, after she came out to him.

“I am close with my children and I love them to bits. They are my friends. But I wasn’t really ready for the ‘breaking news’ my Princess Dewy had for me. When my child told me she is gay, a lesbian, I experienced a range of emotions, during that phone conversation.

“So many things went through my mind, one of them included self-blame (did I do something wrong?) (the child I thought I knew and loved no longer exists.), worry (will my child be discriminated against?) religious confusion (is my child damned to spend eternity in hell?), and stigma (what will people think of my child? of me?).”

He added, “I was hoping it was a prank but it was happening in real time. Even though I was unusually calm through that conversation, my mind was wondering in all directions.

Fams reacting to the video are of the impression that she’s doing all that for the camera and will go back for her money and iPhone after everything.

A lady identified as Blessing Okoh was bold enough to voice it out that Mercy Eke will go back for her money from her friend after snapping some photos with it.
