Scholars Perform As MUSON Honours MTN, Other Donors With Concert

The Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) School of Music has for over three decades groomed students to create good music. Scholars of the academy have mastered the art of infusion, audacious enough to create a cross between Afrobeats and classical genres. A lot of this would not be possible without the commitment of various stakeholders who provide the resources and platforms to perfect their craft and showcase their creativity.

The MTN Foundation, MTN Nigeria’s social investment vehicle, has in its 14-year partnership with the MUSON, invested towards educating music scholars. The scholars have acquired music education culminating in the award of an internationally recognised Diploma in Music through the MTN/MUSON Music Scholars Programme. Beyond this, they have gone on to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to establish successful solo music careers or thrive in bands, production teams and orchestras within and outside Nigeria.

MUSON in appreciation of MTN Nigeria and other donor’s continued contribution towards the actualisation of the dreams and the development of Nigeria’s musical talent organised a concert as part of its end-of-the-year activities. While the donor concert was held in honour of MTN and other donors, it showcased scholars of the programme performed to the delight of attendees increasing their chances of being discovered by stakeholders in the Nigerian music industry.

Viewers had a great time and a reassurance that entertainment and arts in Nigeria will continue to live up to expectations in the quality and calibre of performances that come from graduands of the MTN/MUSON scholars programme.
