‘Phone’ app renamed to “Phone by Google” on the Play Store

Somewhat overshadowed by the launch of Android 11, Google at the start of this month brought its Phone app to non-Pixel devices and added a new “Verified Calls” capability. To coincide with this launch, the app is now called “Phone by Google” on the Play Store.

The Google Play listing for this app has long just named it “Phone.” It’s now officially: “Phone by Google – Caller ID & Spam Protection.” The latter portion is a clear move to attract people looking through the app store by immediately highlighting key capabilities and differentiators. Many when searching through results are hooked by the app name and icon to dig deeper.

Adding “by Google” is a fairly standard move for the company. Other applications with this naming scheme: Files, Wear OS, PhotoScan, Gallery Go, Read Along, Lookout, and Socratic.

There is no change to the actual app name that appears on your homescreen or launcher. Meanwhile, the “Phone by Google” tagline was used to advertise the original Pixel and Pixel XL as a way to familiarize people with the company’s new brand.

Moving forward, it would be interesting to see whether “Messages” gets the same treatment. It was previously “Android Messages,” but after dropping the OS name it more or less became Google Messages. Like the Phone client, it has wide availability as the default RCS client for many phones.

“sellerType”: “PUBLISHER”,
“name”: “Example Company Inc.”
}
]
}

Use any of these, since the first one is recommended by Google, so i am going to go with the first one.

NOTE:

  • In “Seller ID” add your publication code which you can find from Google Adsense > Account > Account Information > On the right you will have your Pub ID.
  • In “Seller Type” add “PUBLISHER” if you’re directly paid by google. Add “INTERMEDIARY” if you work for someone who uses AdSense.
  • In “Name” add the name you get usually paid, even if it is your own name. If you get paid at the name of Jason Bond, write it there but if you get paid with the name such as XYZ Pvt Ltd, then write it there.

What Is This Sellers.JSON File?

Sellers.json is a JSON File provided by IAB Tech Lab; where the Publishers can publicly specify their Personal or Business name along with primary domain name so that Advertisers can verify the data and learn more about the entities who are offering digital ads opportunities.

According to IAB Tech Lab, this sellers.json file will increase the trust level for the total supply chain of bidding and buying of Ads space.

Its worth mentioning that- few months Ago, Google AdSense authority asked us to provide some data on ads.txt file (which we would upload on our own server) but that file didn’t reveal the identities of the entities or businesses or individual publishers; whereas this sellers.json file will do that.

How To Publish Your Information To Sellers.json File?

Here are some steps to follow –

Step 1: Log in to your Adsense Dashboard.

Step 2: Click on the “Account” Tab and then switch to “Account information” section.

Step 3: Find the “Seller information visibility” section on that page . You see, by default – the “Confidential” status is marked on.

Step 04: Just mark the “Transparent” Radio button and enter your primary domain name (the domain that talks about your business or yourself as individual) where you are showing your Ads right now. It is worth mentioning that – you don’t need to use https or http or www before your domain name and any slash (/) after your domain name….just your main domain is okay. Even you are not allowed to use any subdomains or sub-directories there.

See this image below –

Step 05: Once you enter your domain name; AdSense will automatically save your settings and after a while your entity info will be publicly available for Advertisers and in the sellers.json file.

Just click on this link and on your browser type CTRL+F (If you are on Windows) or Command+F (If you are on Mac) and type your pub-************* (Adsense Publisher ID) and check your information.

Why you shouldn’t buy Google shares now

It’s not been a rosy year for the world’s most popular search engine. Google has underperformed against its tech peers and notably the Nasdaq 100, where it gained about 15% vs. the index’s 32% return in 2020.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted business activities around major global economic hubs, Google had failed to be relatively impressive on the average.

To date, the stock is finding it difficult to break the $1600 resistance level and it’s not showing upside strength like other tech peers that include Facebook, Apple, Amazon, and even Microsoft.

It’s not surprising that its recent earnings coming from its core business, Google Search failed to excite investors, which is the most important contributor to revenues, as it took a hit from COVID-19, with sales down -2% YoY in Q2.

The technology juggernaut is the only FAANG (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google) stocks with revenues down year-over-year, although its earnings trend remains solid.

Given that the stock has failed to break the critical resistance level as the share price dropped from its 52 weeks high of $1,597.72 price level, and remains the least choice among the FAANG stocks.

Gistsbaze expects a pullback in the stock price to the $1,550 support level in the mid-term, except it ramps up revenues in its advertising and hardware segments.

Recall Gistsbaze some weeks ago, gave insights on why Stock traders had not been relatively bullish on the stock, due to growing concern on Google’s inability to raise its revenue from advertising was partly responsible for the unimpressive performance in its share price.

Quick fact: Google LLC is an American multinational tech juggernaut that handles Internet-related products and services which include a search engine, cloud computing online advertising technologies, software, and hardware.

It is a subsidiary of Alphabet company. It presently has a valuation of over $1 trillion and at the time this report was drafted traded at $1,580.

However, taking a critical look at the company’s other streams of income, Gistsbaze observed notably that Google cloud and Youtube produced an impressive performance, growing 43% and 6%, respectively thereby giving the bulls a strong case for the stock to remain above the $1,500 support level.

For Google to change its present status quo the stock would have to break the $1,600 resistance level, before its next earnings results and probably start monetizing its payment services.

Presently, Gistsbaze is not bullish on Google’s stock price, as its peers in recent times offer better returns on capital. That said Gistsbaze would be a strong buyer of the stock on any breach below the $1,500 support level.

Laycon emerges most-searched BBNaija 2020 housemate on Google (See Full List)

According to Google search trends, Laycon has generated the most-searched interest online among housemates of the ongoing BBNaija 2020 edition.

Laycon most-searched housemate on Google

In a statement released on Thursday, August 20, Google revealed that Laycon generated the most searched interest on Google search engine followed by Nengi and Erica in that order.

Other housemates that generated most search interest after Laycon, Nengi and Erica are – Ka3na, Dorathy, and Kiddwaya.

Below are the six (6) most-searched BBNaija 2020 housemates;

1. Laycon
2. Nengi
3. Erica
4. Ka3na
5. Dorathy
6. Kiddwaya

Laycon

His appearance on the show has hyped his music career, thereby increasing searches for his EP (Who Is Laycon?), with “Laycon songs” the second most-searched term related to his name (after “Laycon” itself). The next most popular Laycon-related term is “Laycon BBNaija biography”, variations of which appear on all the contestants’ top searches.

Nengi

Laycon most-searched housemate on Google

For the beautiful 22-year-old, one of her notable top searches is “nengi and ozo”, following the pair’s on-screen romance.

Erica

Laycon most-searched housemate on Google

Just like Nengi and Ozo, the chemistry between 26-year-old Erica and Kiddwaya, her love interest, has made “Kiddwaya and Erica” emerge as one of her top search terms.

Speculations are rife that although evicted, Ka3na‘s making out with Praise might have sparked off the high searches attached to her name. While Dorathy became a sensation after news flew around that she’s gifted with heavy oranges, Kiddwaya began trending owing to his Billionaire-Dad status and entanglement with Erica.

And while Laycon may have generated the most search traffic overall, Erica secured the biggest search spike. Given that Kiddwaya was also a hot search and was attached to her name due to their “ship” in the house, it’s most likely that their “entanglement” sparked this interest.

Search By Region

Regionally, Erica has drawn the most interest from Borno province and Lagos, while Laycon is a firm favourite in Adamawa, Taraba, and several other provinces. Dorathy rules Kwara while Nengi generates the most searches in Bayelsa and Edo.

With more weeks remaining for BBNaija ‘Lockdown’ show to come to an end, there’s likely to be a lot more drama, which will have a major impact on searches around the show. However, all fingers are crossed at the moment as we watch out for more unfolding drama in the house.
