Both Thomas Partey and Gabriel Magalhaes has desired a lot of credit for their exhibition performances for Mikel Arteta’s men so far this season.

Magalhaes, 22, has been claimed back-to-back Arsenal player of the month for September and October, thanks to his outstanding performances since arrived at Emirates stadium.

The Brazilian defender has made a big impression for Mikel Arteta’s side, played a starring role against Fulham on his debut back in September and even opened his account for the club.

Gabriel, 22, also delivered another solid performances in Gunners 2-1 beat West Ham United at Emirates stadium in a hard-fought encounter.
Against Fulham, Gabriel win the official Man of the Match award and he was awarded fan award in their second game tie against West Ham United.

He missed Gunners 3-1 defeated to defending champions Liverpool, before to starting XI in Gunners’ Carabao Cup win over Jurgen Klopp’s men at Anfield stadium.

He made huge impression in Mikel Arteta’s side 2-1 win over Sheffield United and also secured the Gunners back-line in 1-0 win over Manchester United earlier of the month.

Partey, on the other hand, delivered an instance performances, played a key major role in Gunners 2-1 over Vienna in Europa League.

His performances against Manchester United was so excited, with a masterful midfield display. Partey, 27, was a robust presence in midfield, constantly winning possession and quickly transitioning into attack.

The 27-year-old powerful central midfielder, who joined the Premier League giant on deadline day bossed the midfield to help Mikel Arteta’s men beat the Red Devils at Old Trafford since 2006.

His outstanding performance against United was one of best performance so far and he has been claimed the man of the match award after inspire his side to claimed all three points against the Red Devils.

Medical doctor arraigned for allegedly raping married woman in Adamawa



The police in Adamawa state have arraigned a medical doctor before a Yola Chief Magistrate court for allegedly raping a married woman.

According to police investigations, the doctor, Phillips Duru, who runs a private clinic and also works at the Adamawa State Specialist Hospital, Yola, allegedly raped the woman in the course of medical checks in his private clinic.

Guardian reports that the police prosecutor told the court during the hearing on Thursday, November 12, that the doctor perpetuated the act in the lab of his private clinic located near the state Specialist Hospital.

After a preliminary hearing of the case, the presiding Magistrate, Aliyu Bawuro, adjourned further hearing to November 26.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, who spoke on the matter, said the plaintiff had reported the alleged rape, prompting the police to take it up.

“It is true. The matter was reported to the police through a complaint by the victim who said she and her husband visited the Specialist Hospital and met the doctor over a health challenge,” Nguroje said.

He added that the man was invited and then charged to court after due investigation.

FG to borrow $750m from World Bank

The Federal government says it is planning to borrow $750 million from the World bank for some states to stimulate local economies in Nigeria.

Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, disclosed this at the inauguration ceremony of the Federal Steering Committees of the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (N-CARES) in Abuja on Friday, November 13.

According to the Finance Minister, the Nigerian Government “is in the process of accessing a World Bank loan of $750 million on behalf of the states, to stimulate the local economy and support vulnerable household’s consumption”.

On the civil unrest and COVID-19 impact in Nigeria, the finance minister said the consequences would be too high if government ignores the root cause of rising anomaly in Nigeria.

”The consequences will be too high if we ignore the root cause of rising civil unrest in our country. We must, therefore, fashion out ways of ensuring that post Covid-19 is not injurious to the Nigerian people and the economy” she said

President Buhari assents to Banks and Financial Institutions Act 2020



President Buhari has assented to the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act 2020.

The Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement released on Friday, November 13.

The Act repeals the extant Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act 1991 as amended. The legislation is expected to enhance the resilience of the financial system for the growth of the Nigerian economy. It updates the enabling law in response to developments and significant evolution in the financial sector.

The Presidency said the Act will increase the appetite of banks and other financial institutions to channel credit to the real sector. It also introduces a credit tribunal to improve loan recovery. Furthermore, the legislation addresses the incidence of high non-performing loans within the financial system.

The statement adds that the Act will strengthen the regulatory and supervisory framework for the financial industry and will also provide additional tools for managing failing institutions and systemic distress to preserve financial stability.

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, would meet stakeholders across various sectors to discuss critical aspects of the Act.
